An EPIC Singapore Itinerary Written By Singaporeans (2024 Updated Travel Guide)

January 22, 2024 by Bino 11 Comments

Singapore is one of Asia’s most popular destinations. As a small country, most just make it a pitstop to elsewhere in the region, dismissing it as boring and sterile compared to neighboring countries. That being said, Singapore is also a breath of fresh air (literally!) with its convenient transport network, clean and pleasant environment and well thought out infrastructure which makes it attractive to travelers.

Look beyond the stereotypes and there are actually quite a number of things to do around Singapore – from the quintessential experiences to the more far-out attractions. Whether you’re a first-timer, a shopaholic or someone seeking for something more unique, here are some of my Singapore itinerary suggestions on a 2-day trip to this city. I’ve made the duration 2 days to make it easy to execute during weekends but there are enough attractions listed here to stretch this to a 3-day / 4-day or even 5-day itinerary of Singapore.

My Experience at Canopy Park (Jewel Changi Airport) Full Guide + Cheap Tickets – Mindboggling Mazes, Height Defying Walking Nets & More

December 1, 2021 by Bino 2 Comments

Canopy Park opened at Jewel Changi Airport on the 10th June 2019 and has received plenty of media coverage and public interest that I was quite curious to check it out during a preview organized by the Changi Airport folks along with the Changi Experience Studio. Images of a large net suspended over the higher levels of Jewel Changi Airport seemed to capture the public’s imagination, adding to the overall allure of the mixed-use development.

BOOK DISCOUNTED TICKETS TO CANOPY PARK AT JEWEL CHANGI AIRPORT HERE

If you are thinking of visiting Canopy Park and are wondering how the attractions really are like and whether they are worth your money, hopefully this guide can present a well-balanced view of the various facilities and attractions within this 14,000 square meter theme park.

CHECK OUT MY REVIEW OF CHANGI EXPERIENCE STUDIO HERE

First of all, you have to know that entrance fees to the various attractions don’t exactly come cheap. While the standalone ticket that allows you to enter the Canopy Park alone is priced at a very reasonable S$4.50 for residents / S$5 for non-residents, the ticketed areas require top-ups between S$6 to S$15 per person per attraction while bundled tickets for the entire Canopy Park experience can go as high as S$54 per adult / S$39 per child. If you go for the whole thing, you may find Canopy Park to be the second most expensive theme park in Singapore, behind Universal Studios Singapore but well-above the Night or River Safaris or the various attractions in Sentosa.

Update: Given the current situation, cheaper bundle tickets are now available for Canopy Park. Read until the end for pricing details on the new bundles!

Here is a rundown of the various attractions at Jewel Changi Airport’s Canopy Park:

Ultimate Gardens by the Bay Guide – Cloud Forest, Flower Dome, Floral Fantasy, Supertrees & More

April 25, 2021 by Bino 1 Comment

Opened in 2012, Gardens by the Bay is a manmade attraction in the central part of Singapore. Spanning more than 100 acres in area, the park has become one of Singapore’s iconic spots due to its massive supertrees and thanks to its strategic location, just next to Marina Bay Sands and overlooking the city’s scenic Marina Bay.

Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore’s most popular tourist attractions, being a hit with both foreigners intrigued by its look that seems to come straight out of a science fiction movie and locals who come periodically for its seasonal exhibitions.

The most intuitive way of categorizing the different areas of Gardens by the Bay is by segregating it between the paid and free areas. The bulk of the outdoor sections – such as the Supertree Grove, Dragonfly and Kingfisher Lakes, outdoor gardens and sculptures do not require any admission fees. On the other hand, the indoor areas – such as the Cloud Forest, Flower Dome and Floral Fantasy are chargeable. Walking through the 22 meter high skyway at the Supertree Grove is also chargeable even though marveling at these same “trees” from the ground level is free. This guide will cover both the main attractions of Gardens by the Bay with an emphasis on the paid areas and also some free sections.

The Definitive Guide to Changi Experience Studio at Jewel Changi Airport + How to Get Tickets Cheap

April 12, 2021 by Bino 4 Comments

Changi Experience Studio is the newest attraction to open in Jewel Changi Airport. Located in the 4th floor of the mixed-use development near Lobby C, this first-of-its kind digital experience gives a glimpse of the world’s best airport in a way that is engaging and delightful to both children and adults.

Occupying a total floor space of 3,000 square meters, the Changi Experience Studio uses different types of technology to showcase various facets of Changi Airport. Experiences range from interactive arcade games, projection storytelling, immersive shows to gallery exhibits. As of this writing, the Changi Experience Studio has yet to open – it officially does on the 10th June 2019 – but I was invited over for a preview of the venue along with the Canopy Park one floor up.

Halloween Horror Nights 2018 at Universal Studios Singapore

November 9, 2018 by Bino Leave a Comment

It has been a long while since I’ve gone for the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore. I went for the first one in 2011 and remember being awed by the visual effects and dedicated actors who made the haunted houses as spooky as possible. This wasn’t the usual amusement park scary house as I soon discovered. I went for my second one in 2016 and the enjoyment was not at all diminished despite being five years older.

This year’s Halloween Horror Nights is a play on Asian horror. There are Malay, Chinese and Japanese themed horror houses that complement a Netflix tie-up, Stranger Things. In total there are 5 haunted houses, 2 scare zones and 3 live shows this year.

Cycling in Eastern Singapore – From Katong to East Coast Park

September 26, 2018 by Bino Leave a Comment

My full day of cycling did not exactly start out as planned. I woke up witnessing heavy rain outside my window, with puddles accumulating around the sidewalks. The weather may have been a perfect excuse to just stay indoors but rather than canceling my plans altogether, I brought out the Brompton bicycle that I had loaned and proceeded to hail a cab. The bike’s manageable size and weight as well as its foldability makes it rather suited to situations like these when I can choose to bring it inside a car and head to a part of town I’d like to explore for leisure.

6 Dazzling Attractions in Singapore to Photograph at Night

April 27, 2016 by Bino 4 Comments

A city with sleek infrastructure, tall buildings and manmade wonders; Singapore is an urbanite’s dream. By day, many of the city state’s attractions gleam in the sun but it is at night that they show their sleeker and more sophisticated side. Many of Singapore’s most iconic buildings and attractions present a whole new dimension when viewed after the sun sets. This is due mainly to the fact that the government here has invested a lot in putting in accents such as flood lights and laser shows to delight the ten million or so tourists that visit each year.

My First Time on a Yacht With Blue Star Yachting

September 29, 2014 by Bino Leave a Comment

Despite the growing popularity of yachting as a leisure activity in Singapore, I had never been on one before – at least not until last week. A press invitation care of Blue Star Yachting changed all that.

Setting sail from the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, I came aboard a luxury catamaran that could accommodate as many as 37 people. It’s just the sort of boat that people hire for corporate activities, to entertain clients or simply to chill with friends. For that evening, however, I counted folks from the media as my fellow passengers as we cruised around the southern part of the Singapore coast.
